AsianFin — The Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute and the American Association for the Advancement of Science jointly announced today the launch of the 2025 AI-Driven Science Prize, aimed at recognizing young scientists worldwide who leverage artificial intelligence technologies—such as machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning—to solve critical problems and accelerate advancements in natural sciences, including life and physical sciences.
The inaugural winners of the AI-Driven Science Prize were revealed in July, with three scientists—Dr. Zhuoran Qiao, Dr. Aditya Nair, and Dr. Alizée Roobaert—being honored for their groundbreaking AI-enabled research in biochemistry, neuroscience, and marine science, respectively.
The trio will share a total cash prize of $50,000, while their award-winning papers have been published in Science magazine, marking significant academic recognition for their work.
The AI-Driven Science Prize is open to early-career scientists who have obtained their M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degrees within the past ten years. Designed to spotlight the next generation of academic leaders, the prize offers a global stage to showcase transformative research that harnesses AI technologies to tackle scientific challenges previously deemed insurmountable.
Applicants are required to submit a 1,000-word research paper detailing their most significant scientific breakthrough achieved through AI technologies. Submissions should focus on research that would not have been possible without the use of artificial intelligence.
Submission portals are now open on:

Detailed application deadlines and guidelines are available on the application websites.
Winners will be invited to deliver keynote speeches at the Chen Institute Symposium for AI Accelerated Science and the Chen Institute Youth Forum for AI Accelerated Science, where they will participate in high-level roundtable discussions and lead interactive workshops. Awardees and finalists will also be recognized with the prestigious title of “Chen Scholars.”
